Corpus-based Material

Image
Hi, world! Our new task was to prepare a corpus-based material. We were supposed to choose a generally confused grammar or vocabulary item from the MEB English coursebook and prepare a worksheet by using corpus-based activities. I worked on the worksheet for hours... I used Canva again for this project. It was hard to choose a worksheet template suitable for the types of exercises I will be creating. Fortunately, I found one and started to prepare activities on the topic I chose from the book. The topic was "few" and "a few". For most of the students who are new to these quantifiers, it is confusing and almost meaningless. I tried to make them understand, practice and create on this topic. It was exhausting trying to find the right sentences while giving examples. I am satisfied with the outline of the worksheet and activities. This task contributed a great deal to my teaching skills. It provided me with the ability to see the activities from the eyes of the studen

Creating a Timeline

Image
Hello there! I am here with a very different task this time. It is the first time I've ever created a timeline by myself ! The topic of the timeline that we were supposed to create is " the history of technology in language learning". We have been going over this topic for a couple of weeks. Though I heard so many things on this topic, it was hard to summarize them into a timeline. The hard part was not only summarizing, creating was also a confusing process. I tried out a few tools that our teacher suggested. Finally, I could understand one of them enough to use. I chose Canva while doing this task. Just like all the others tasks, the most satisfying part was the ending 😹 Despite the hardships, I came to the conclusion that a timeline is a great way to see the big picture of a topic, especially when one creates it on their own. You can click here to view the timeline on Canva

The cat person is back !

Hi everyone !!! Our journey may have seemed to be over but it is definitely not. Now, I will continue blogging for a new lesson: Material Design in English Language Teaching. In this lesson, we, the students, are the ones who will prepare the materials. As a teacher candidate, I sincerely feel that this lesson is going to improve for the better. I can not wait to post new tasks and see my development over time. Though this lesson looks difficult to me now, I want to believe that it will get easier as I continue this journey.       I miss sharing my ideas and products with you. I hope we will have a great time together ! Keep checking my blog for the recent posts and more cat content! πŸ˜ΌπŸ’•
