Flipped Teaching Video

Image
Hello everyone! We're back together with an entertaining and different task. We prepared a flipped teaching video. Let me explain what the flipped classroom approach is. In a flipped classroom, there is a strategic swap of lectures and homework. While traditional methods are based on lecturing in class time and giving homework to do at home, the flipped classroom approach does the opposite. In this approach, students watch the lessons at home Netflix-style, and practice in the classroom. To adapt to the changing world, educators find this method very useful and fun. Students are able to see whether or not they completely understand and are capable of putting theory into real life. If there is a question they need to ask their teacher, they can do it right away and this is a huge plus for this method. There are also some disadvantages such as access to technology. To be able to successfully apply this method, all students need to have access to technology outside the ...

Corpus-based Teaching Material

Image
Hello everyone !  We're back together this semester with new tasks. Our latest task was preparing a corpus-based teaching material. While preparing, my partner Merve and I chose to work with intermediate-advanced level high school students. The topic we chose was differentiating "rise" and "raise". While preparing the material, we used Canva as a tool. We've been using Canva for years and know almost exactly how to use it but integrating corpus was the hard part of this task. Once we figured out what corpus is, how and where to use it, we were ready to prepare the material. It has step-by-step instructions that are clear and easy to understand. By the end of this material, we hope that students will be able to distinguish between the words "raise" and "rise" and use them correctly according to the context.  Thank you for visiting and see you next time !!! You can check out Merve's glamorous blog by clicking HERE  and the material by...

Flipped Teaching Video

Hello everyone! For this task, my friend Zelal and I prepared a flipped teaching video. I will explain what flipped teaching is shortly. The flipped classroom approach is a teaching model that reverses the traditional roles of in-class lectures and homework assignments. Instead, students learn new concepts at home through pre-recorded lectures or other instructional materials and apply their knowledge during class time through interactive activities, discussions, and collaboration with peers. The advantages of using this method in language classes include flexibility for students to learn at their own pace, active learning which involves more interaction and participation, collaboration which encourages teamwork and peer-to-peer learning, and personalization where teachers can tailor lesson plans to meet individual needs. However, some disadvantages may include technical issues such as access to technology and reliable internet, lack of motivation for some students, time con...

The cat person is back !

Image
Hi everyone !!! Our journey may have seemed to be over but it is definitely not. Now, I will continue blogging for a new lesson: Material Design in English Language Teaching. In this lesson, we, the students, are the ones who will prepare the materials. As a teacher candidate, I sincerely feel that this lesson is going to improve for the better. I can not wait to post new tasks and see my development over time. Though this lesson looks difficult to me now, I want to believe that it will get easier as I continue this journey.       I miss sharing my ideas and products with you. I hope we will have a great time together ! Keep checking my blog for the recent posts and more cat content! πŸ˜ΌπŸ’•

Welcome to my notes

Dear friends, welcome to my blog and thank you for visiting. Here, I will be talking about topics related to language learning and teaching, my experiences and fun stuff. The reason I am starting this blog is I have been keeping a diary since I was a kid and it is an undeniable fact that it has been a great company that benefits me in many ways. So I thought it is time I kept up with the changing world and moved to a digital platform. I hope I will be able to share my progress both personal and academic :)
